So I haven't "blogged" in a while, and I figured I might as well throw in my political 2-cents just like everyone else. So here it is....did ya get it? Yup, that was it. You can tell by my enthusiasm that I just don't care. Well, that's not fair. I do care, I just don't care enough to make a big scene out of it like it seems everyone else is. I'm even to the point where I, for some reason, am offended when people actually tell me who they are voting for! I'm not fully sure why, but I think it's because for some reason I feel that since this is such a personal choice (for President) that it should be kept personal. I think it stems from the fact that EVERYONE wants to talk to you about why they are voting for that person, and if you don't agree...then you should be given a swirly. That, in there, lies the problem. And I'm tired of it. Yes, you have an opinion, and yes it probably is different than me...but don't treat me like a flipp'n moron just because I have my opinion that is different than yours.
With that said, I'm going to break my rule and tell you who I voted for, and not because I'm hoping to start a "discussion" with you about it. This is here so that I DON'T have to do that. In the end, I voted for Obama. I didn't want to, but McCain left me no choice. I have voted for McCain in the past elections (when I could) and was planning on doing so again. I stand firm with him on many of his Christian beliefs and would like to see a president in the oval office with those same Christian beliefs...but not if they are going to run a campaign that is counter-Christian. And that's what McCain did. He jumped away from what it truly means to be a man of Christ and ran his campaign as if he became the total opposite of being a Christian (not to say that Obama is not a Christian).
Even the key issues that McCain stands for (abortion, etc)....I agree with. But in the end, I also had to look at what, if any, of those key issues are actually things that the President has any control over...and I had to realize that it was "no." So I voted for Obama.
Finally, I ask a simple request. Can we please, get an honest person running, who will not skew words and give us half-truths and half-answers? I don't care if you alienate your "party" or tick tons of people off because of what you say. Give me the God's honest truth of what you believe. Even if I don't agree with you....you'll have my respect and possibly my vote. I'd rather vote for someone who doesn't have any skeletons and speaks from the heart while giving us their full opinion....than someone who's going to tell me half of what is asked...and only the half that can lead the answer to "interpretation."
And that's all.
